Lessons Learned from Years with Lighting

How to Determine the Best LED Strip Lights

Some of the more popular LED products are LED strip lights, tapes and ribbons. These LED products have replaced incandescent ribbons and fluorescent tubes. They have also given endless options when it comes to advertising and decorating hotels, bars and other public venues. LED technology has advanced a lot and is still advancing, the new lights are very bright and have a long life span, they work great for ascent lights and have even been able to be used as a main lighting source. They are popular in home use and commercial use, in this article we put together some of the characteristics of these strip lights that consumers will want to consider.

First we will look at some things the consumer will need to pay attention to when making their decision. The user will need to know the size and type of LED they want on their light strip as well as the color, flexibility, and rating of the strip. Of these factors the most important will be the type and size of the LED, this will determine the performance and brightness of the light strip. The newer the technology and the bigger the size of the LEDs the brighter the strip lights will be.

A second key factor in the performance and brightness of the strip will be how many LEDs are on the strip. The larger the number the brighter the strip, but a very high number of LEDs will require different technology, this will usually be done in a double strip where the lights will be placed in multiple rows instead of in a straight line. If you have this type of strip you will need to make sure that the lights are not place too close to one another as this could shorten the life of the entire strip.

The color you can reach with LEDs is seemingly endless, this is because they use RGB techniques. There are even three different shades of white that can be reached, a bright white, a warm white and a natural white. You can get LED lights in almost any single color but with an RGB light strip you will be able to produce any color you wish. These strips will need a controller to get the color that you want, this controller will allow you to change the color and also set up special modes if you want the lights to change throughout the night.

The application of a LED strip will really rely on how flexible it is. For instance a rigid strip will be great for replacing a fluorescent tube light, but you can do anything with a flexible strip. The flat surface of a wall or ceiling might call for a rigid strip but when it comes to angles you will want something flexible.
